Acute Care Alberta (ACA) is seeking an experienced and strategic Lead to join the Strategic Value Office. This senior role plays a critical part in advancing complex, enterprise-wide initiatives that support system transformation, enhance value, and contribute to the long term sustainability of Alberta’s acute care system. Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategic Value Office, the Lead provides leadership across cross-functional, high-impact initiatives spanning multiple organizations, portfolios, and system partners. The Lead is accountable for strategic oversight of planning, delivery, and performance across enterprise-level initiatives, integrating financial and operational considerations to support executive decision-making. The role exercises independent judgment to balance competing priorities, manage risk, and resolve interdependencies that affect outcomes at a system level. A strong emphasis is placed on value informed decision making, including identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen outcomes, and optimize the use of resources. This position works closely with Executive Sponsors, senior leaders, initiative leads, and governance forums to ensure initiatives deliver meaningful results and align with organizational strategy. Description:

The incumbent is accountable for leading and coordinating complex, cross functional initiatives to advance organizational objectives, with a focus on delivering measurable value and supporting the long term sustainability of the acute care health care system. This role provides enterprise level leadership for integrated planning, delivery oversight, risk management, and performance monitoring across multiple initiatives and portfolios. The Lead exercises independent judgment to assess competing demands, prioritize work based on value and impact, and adjust sequencing and delivery approaches to optimize outcomes. The position works collaboratively with Executive Sponsors, senior leaders, and initiative leads to shape options, support governance processes, and translate complex financial, operational, and strategic information into clear recommendations that inform executive decision making. The role leads sustained stakeholder engagement, supports enterprise change efforts, and ensures accountable follow through on governance direction. The incumbent applies value based decision making principles to support prioritization and resource allocation, contributes to the development and evaluation of business cases, and oversees tracking and reporting of expected benefits and outcomes. This role supports system sustainability by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen outcomes, and optimize the use of resources. Functional leadership is provided to out of scope staff and matrixed teams contributing to delivery across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in health, business, finance, human resources, or a related discipline is required. A minimum of seven years of progressive leadership experience in a complex public or private sector organization is required. Demonstrated experience leading or overseeing complex, multi stakeholder initiatives with enterprise level impact and measurable outcomes is required. The successful candidate brings strong analytical, judgment, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to influence outcomes across diverse cross-sector partners. Proven ability to integrate financial, operational, and strategic considerations, including cost and value impacts, to support decision making is required. Experience supporting governance processes and translating complex information into clear, actionable recommendations is essential. Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills are required.


Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate demonstrates the ability to work independently in a fast paced, high volume environment while managing competing priorities and sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion. Strong relationship building, facilitation, and negotiation skills are required to effectively engage executive and senior leaders. The incumbent must be able to synthesize complex information, assess risk, and develop clear, practical options and recommendations that balance operational, financial, and broader system considerations. Strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment are essential in navigating ambiguity and resolving interdependencies across initiatives. Advanced organizational skills, adaptability, and a collaborative leadership style are essential, along with the ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment. The role requires strong business acumen, including financial literacy and an understanding of system level drivers and efficiency opportunities. Proficiency in standard enterprise tools including Microsoft Office and Teams is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

A master’s degree in healthcare, business, or administration would be considered an asset. Professional certification in project or program management, change management, and/or process improvement methodologies is preferred. Experience working in large scale public sector or health system transformation environments is considered an asset.
