Senior Consultant
Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Program Lead of Emergency Care Alberta (ECA), the Senior Consultant (SC) leads the provincial development, implementation and evaluation of processes and actions aimed at improving access, consistency, outcomes, and value of health care delivery in Alberta in the ECA. The SC is a professional with a deep understanding of the provincial, integrated system and utilizes their expertise and those of other partners to find solutions for improving patient outcome and value. The incumbent is highly independence and collaborative when engaging with the ECA team, corridor clinical and administrative operational leads, and patient and family advisors on priority areas of work. The incumbent leads the development, identification, implementation and evaluation of complex clinical practice or system improvement initiatives. Leading functional teams or initiatives with a provincial scope , the role provides coaching and mentorship to various operational groups in practice change supporting high quality, evidence-based care. As part of a Learning Health System, the incumbent will utilize organizational approaches for improvement and innovation. The SC provides quality improvement, change implementation, and project management skills to a portfolio of initiatives, ensuring activities are delivered with a view to seamless integration into operations and ongoing sustainment. The SC provides leadership to ensure activities are delivered within scope, cost, time, and quality across the organization. The incumbent will identify, implement and where necessary, coordinate effective practices to support the evolving needs of ECA and its areas of work.
Description:
The Senior Consultant will: Gather, analyze, synthesize and where necessary coordinate leading practices, quantitative and qualitative data to inform recommendations leading to the development of provincial strategic plans and new approaches to care delivery. Work with others to complete ECA functions to support direction, implementation and evaluation of complex projects and other functions as required. Lead innovative approaches to sustaining practice improvements while working with clinical leads and staff to address system issues with sustainable solutions that align with ACA priorities. Guide evaluation of ECA activities and development of performance metrics in concert with others. Carry out ECA quality and planning related functions identified in priority initiatives. Link with Health Service providers to coordinate access to available services across the continuum. Direct and share advanced analytics related to clinical performance metrics with a view to providing guidance to senior operational and clinical leaders. Provide project management support and produce ad hoc deliverables as required.

Post-secondary degree with experience that aligns with the content area of ECA (e.g., nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, epidemiology). Masters preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of the health system and a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience leading and implementing provincial or multi-corridor initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal training in change management, quality improvement, implementation science, engagement, project management.
