Your Opportunity:
Emergency Care Alberta’s mandate includes the adoption of evidence-based, data-driven best practices in patient care for Albertas 102 emergency departments and six Urgent Care Centres (ED/UCCs). Reporting to the Program Lead, Emergency Care Alberta (ECA), the Senior Analyst (SA) has responsibility for providing consistent, accurate data to inform polices, protocols or strategies to enhance patient care. The SA will work independently and in conjunction with the ECA team, as required to: Enable health system sustainability by ensuring high quality data to support refining priorities to advance effective and efficient resource utilization, while considering patient impacts, outcomes and perspectives. Contribute to the establishment of desired outcomes for ED/UCC patients by providing reliable metrics to track progress against prioritized Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Promote the adoption of data-driven, evidence based, best practices in care for ED/UCC patients in Alberta.
Description:
The Senior Analyst: Is a data expert, a critical thinker and creative critical thinking problem-solver and is a motivated, self-learner, solution finder and a team player. Has a lead role, with the ECA team, in performance monitoring and reporting including leading provincial analysis and site-based analysis; leading responses to data requests for quality improvement and strategic planning. The SA liaises with stakeholders to determine data needs, and communicate limitations; establishing, reporting and interpreting metrics; and identifying areas for improvement. Has a relevant understanding of the ECA provincial program and the delivery of ED/UCC services to inform and recommend data-related activities to meet the goal of improved access and quality of care for ED patients. Is grounded in promoting and improving patient safety, person-centred care, and health service quality. Will solve or help others to solve complex problems; take a broad lens to identify, initiate and lead innovative solutions; ensure self-accountability to consult with other data experts to solve complex problems and ensures transparency by escalating to ECA Leadership as required. Leads with a creative and innovative approach to modify current or develop new practices/processes to improve efficiencies in data management and quality. Builds relationships to achieve results. Uses advanced communication, facilitation and negotiation skills and synthesizes, analyzes and presents data to various audiences, tailoring the communication to the audience, uses business and process system-level knowledge to apply data and analytical tools in a meaningful way. Is future focused and engages in innovation opportunities (predictive analytics) by leading, and leveraging teams such as Information Technology, Data and Analytics, Connect Care, etc.

Master’s degree with a strong quantitative focus (e.g., health economics, mathematics, statistics, operations engineering, health sciences, epidemiology, etc.) and (5) years of applicable experience. Or a Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) years of applicable experience.
