Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Program Lead for Neurosciences Care Alberta (NCA), the Senior Consultant (SC) leads provincial efforts to develop, implement, and evaluate processes that improve access, consistency, outcomes, and value of health care delivery. This role supports initiatives focused on enhancing access to Endovascular Therapy (EVT) for stroke in both rural and urban communities. The Senior Consultant is a professional with a deep understanding of the provincial, integrated system and utilizes their expertise and those of other partners to find solutions improving patient outcome and value. The incumbent works with a high degree of independence and in collaboration with the NCA team, Corridor clinical and administrative operational leads, and patient and family advisors on priority areas of work. The incumbent leads the development, identification, implementation and evaluation of complex clinical practice or system improvement initiatives in stroke and EVT. Leading functional teams or initiatives with a provincial scope that are complex in nature, the role provides coaching and mentorship to various operational groups in practice change supporting high quality, evidence-based care. The Senior Consultant provides quality improvement, change implementation, and project management skills to projects relating to improving access to EVT, ensuring activities are delivered with a view on seamless integration into operations and ongoing sustainment. The Senior Consultant provides leadership to ensure NCA activities are delivered within scope, cost, time, and quality across the organization. The incumbent will identify, implement and where necessary, coordinate effective practices to support the evolving needs of the NCA program and their areas of work.

Description:

The Senior Consultant will: Gather, analyze, synthesize and where necessary coordinate leading practices, quantitative and qualitative data to inform recommendations leading to the development of provincial strategic plans and new approaches to care delivery. Work with the NCA team to complete NCA functions to support direction, implementation and evaluation of complex projects, capability assessment, mining for innovation and NCA committee requirements, as needed. Lead, develop and implement innovative approaches to sustaining practice improvements while working closely with clinical operational leads and staff to address system issues with sustainable solutions that align with Health Services Delivery Provider (HSDP)priorities. Guide evaluation of NCA activities and development performance measures/targets in concert with others. Carry out the quality and planning related functions identified by NCA priority initiatives. Link with appropriate departments within HSDP to coordinate access to available services. Work closely with stakeholders across the continuum including ambulatory care and rehabilitation as needed. Direct and share advanced analytics related to clinical performance metrics with a view to providing advice and guidance to senior operational and clinical leaders. Provide project management support. Produce ad hoc deliverables as required.

Required Qualifications:

A post-secondary degree with experience that aligns with the content area of Neurosciences Care Alberta (e.g., nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, epidemiology). Masters preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge of the health system and a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience leading and implementing provincial or multi-corridor initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

Formal training in change management, quality improvement, implementation science, engagement, project management.
